Coco avant Chanel

A few days ago I saw the movie Coco avant Chanel. A beautiful movie with Audrey Tautou which I can recommend. It is about the life of Coco Chanel before she became famous. 

Yesterday it was almost 30º C and today only 15. In The Netherlands this happens more often. 

 The movie inspired me and the weather allowed me to wear my 'Chanel' dress with my fur coat. :) 

A while ago I found this beautiful Chanel fabric and decided to make a simple dress in the spirit of Coco Chanel.

I really love dots. They give a very cheerful feeling.

I have lots of dotted clothes and I will show them to you every now and then.

Froufrou de Printemps

I would like to show what I made a few months ago for a design contest for young people called Kunstbende. I won the second prize in my region.

The name of my collection is Froufrou de Printemps which means 'the rustle of spring'. The idea of the collection is that in spring everything comes to life. 

In every outfit there is one garment which makes soft noises: cracking paper, tiny bells or ticking nut shells. All these have their impact on the appearance of the clothes.

Peonies & Chanel

My favourite Saturday morning:

Going to our flower market and fabric market to hunt for something special. 

The harvest of today: I selected several spring flowers and made a beautiful bouquet and I found a great Chanel fabric.

Ready to Fish

Today it was a perfect sunny day to take some pictures. I'm wearing one of my favourite blouses from Ilja Visser's Ready to Fish. It is a label that makes very wearable and elegant clothes with fine details. The colour palet is always very beautiful.

What's in a name...

Beau bon joli are the first three words of a list of the only adjectives that come before french nouns. As far as I know it is only used in my country as a song to make learning this small list easier.

Beau bon joli means: beautiful, good, pretty.

Rabbit Happiness

This is my Miffy. I designed and made the dress and it was exhibited for a few weeks at the Nijntje in de Mode (Miffy in Fashion) exhibition in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht early this year. The idea behind my design is that a rabbit feels the happiest with its nose between grass and daisies. :) 

The pictures show my design and some details. In the last picture you can see three other designs from Clements Ribeiro, Claes Iversen and i-did slowfashion (you can see my Miffy in the background).

Parisian perfection

Looking at elegant balconies and walking with the dog in Paris. Wouldn't that be great?

First sunny day

This weather screams for a flower skirt. This weekend I found a really nice top at H&M made of a beautiful fabric and with surprising details. I thought it was a perfect combination with the skirt, All Stars and my favourite little bag. 

Wish the colour of the hair in the first picture was real. :)

Pretty in Pink

One of my favourite campaigns is Miss Dior Chérie. Today I saw it again in one of my folders and it reminds me of two photo's I made some time ago.

Today I went to Antwerp, the best fashion city close to the Netherlands. After we had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien I saw a beautiful flower dress. Unfortunately I couldn't afford it, so I made two drawings for the time being. I hope it will still be there at the 'soldes'.

Hi! I am Merrit, 17 and I am from Holland. 

This blog will be about beautiful things I would like to share with you. I am fond of fashion so a lot will be about designers who inspire me, my wardrobe and my own creations. 

The first picture shows me wearing two of my creations, a silk jumpsuit and a necklace made of leather flowers. The second one shows a part of my treasure: beautiful fabrics which are waiting to become new garments.
